First bicommunal LGBTI+ festival taking place on Saturday

The island’s first bicommunal LGBTI+ festival will be held in Nicosia on 5th of October, Saturday under the slogan “United by Colours”. This festival is a part of the Open Door Civil Society Festival that is implemented by Civic Space, financed by the European Union.

Organised by Accept LGBTI+ and the Queer Cyprus Association and will be held at the Home for Cooperation from 18:00 until 23:59, with music and dance.

The festival will also act as a platform to discuss further ways of co-operation. It will include an open mic session where anyone will have the opportunity to talk on any matter they wish.

Queer Cyprus Association is a civil society group established in 2007 that works to combat discrimination based on gender, gender expression, sexual orientation and gender identity in cooperation with local and international organisations.

Accept LGBTI is a non-profit non governmental organization that working on protect and promote the human rights of the LGBTI community in Republic of Cyprus and was founded in 2009.

Queer Cyprus is a civil society movement that started in 2008 with the name of “Initiative Against Homophobia” to change the discriminatory laws in the north of Cyprus and to create public opinion for the rights and freedoms of Lesbian Gay Bisexual Trans and Intersex people. Queer Cyprus embraces diversity and wages a feminist, anti-militarist, ecologist and veganist struggle against all forms of oppression.
