Lesbian Visibility Day is a symbol of the fight against a system that dominates heterosexuality and only recognizes relationships between opposite genders, while ignoring and invalidating other types of relationships, in Cyprus as well as many other parts of the world. For years, Queer Cyprus Association has been working towards building a society that accepts diversity in sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression, and as we emphasize every year, LESBIANS DO EXIST!

This special day helps to bring visibility to the existence of emotional, romantic, and sexual relationships between women, and challenges the patriarchal mindset that considers such relationships to be a mere fantasy.

Lesbians do exist!

Queer Cyprus is a civil society movement that started in 2008 with the name of “Initiative Against Homophobia” to change the discriminatory laws in the north of Cyprus and to create public opinion for the rights and freedoms of Lesbian Gay Bisexual Trans and Intersex people. Queer Cyprus embraces diversity and wages a feminist, anti-militarist, ecologist and veganist struggle against all forms of oppression.
