The Queer Cyprus Association visited Fazilet Özdenefe, Vice President of the Assembly of the Republic, and informed her about the recent research results of the Queer Cyprus Association on health and education and the increasing violence against LGBTI+s.

Queer Cyprus Association underlined that within the scope of curriculum gap analysis studies, textbooks used in primary, secondary and high school schools have been examined by using content analysis method in the context of gender and LGBTI+ inclusion and that the results support the sexist approach that fosters gender stereotypes. In addition to this study, it was stated that large-scale research was conducted on the knowledge, attitudes and myths of health professionals and teachers towards LGBTI+s, and training modules for both sectors are being prepared in light of the results.

In her speech, Vice President of the Assembly of the Republic, Fazilet Özdenefe, emphasized that the increasing disapprobation, discrimination, hate speech and violence against LGBTI+s in society is worrying. Stating that necessary measures should be taken to strengthen LGBTI+'s and all other disadvantaged groups' access to rights and freedoms in education, health, work, employment and all other areas of life in order to reach contemporary society standards, Özdenefe pledged that she would continue to work towards creating a country where everyone would live equally.
