Speak the Unspoken: Conference on LGBTI Equality and Countering Discrimination in Cyprus

The 2-day conference, Speak the Unspoken, will include plenary sessions, and thematic panel discussions on media, health, education, feminism and queer theory and LGBTI rights activism/mobilizing an LGBTI rights movement. In addition, the conference will provide an excellent setting for revealing the survey results on the attitudes of Turkish Cypriot community towards LGBTI people. The conference will feature two international media experts from Thomson Foundation, Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot activists and experts from Cyprus, and speakers from Turkey.

The conference will take place on October 20 & 21 between 09:30 & 17:00, in Bedesten/Nicosia.

Queer Cyprus is a civil society movement that started in 2008 with the name of “Initiative Against Homophobia” to change the discriminatory laws in the north of Cyprus and to create public opinion for the rights and freedoms of Lesbian Gay Bisexual Trans and Intersex people. Queer Cyprus embraces diversity and wages a feminist, anti-militarist, ecologist and veganist struggle against all forms of oppression.
