The 'Other' Military Tales

Updated: Oct 3, 2023

We have all heard those stories of ‘military duty’ ‘manliness’ and ‘serving the nation’. Stories accompanied by approving nods and silent admiration. War Resisters' International and Queer Cyprus Association invite you to an evening of sharing stories of military service or any experiences related to the military, that don’t get told or don’t find an audience within our society. Maybe you have a story of your own you would like to share, perhaps a childhood memory, or maybe you just want to listen. We invite you all to come and share these stories with us in a calm and casual environment, without judgment and without fear. Remember, your stories are worth telling, as well as being heard.

This is a free event open to all, however, we do have limited space available so please click ‘attending’ on the Facebook event only if you are attending the event.

*Discussions will be in English, however, if non-English speakers wish to contribute, we are able to translate from Turkish and Greek into English.

Queer Cyprus is a civil society movement that started in 2008 with the name of “Initiative Against Homophobia” to change the discriminatory laws in the north of Cyprus and to create public opinion for the rights and freedoms of Lesbian Gay Bisexual Trans and Intersex people. Queer Cyprus embraces diversity and wages a feminist, anti-militarist, ecologist and veganist struggle against all forms of oppression.
